OLA Music Series
MUSIC SERIES
The Parish Music Series had its inaugural season in 2007 under the direction of Edmund and Chalon Murray, in anticipation of the parish’s 25th anniversary. This its 15th season will feature our own choirs, from our parish and from the academy.
Choral Evensong - Parish Choirs and Academy Chamber Choir
1st Sunday of each month, 4pm
“From ancient times the Church has had the custom of celebrating each day the liturgy of the hours. In this way the Church fulfills the Lord’s precept to pray without ceasing, at once offering its praise to God the Father and interceding for the salvation of the world.” - Office of the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship
Evensong is the singing of Evening Prayer, the penultimate of hours for daily prayer. It is an important part of the parish prayer life to develop a familiarity with the Liturgy of the Hours. We hope you are able to attend as often as possible.

A Choral Rejoicing: For the Whole Church - Parish Adult Choir and Vox Mariae
Saturday, October 30, 3pm
We invite you to enjoy a program of choral music in celebration of the Solemnity of All Saints, as well as the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed. The program will feature John Rutter’s Gloria, alongside works by Sergei Rachmaninov and John Tavener.
This concert is a prayer of thanksgiving for the saints and holy men and women, as well as supplication for the recently departed.
Our parish Adult Choir will be joined by Vox Mariae, an ensemble of sophomores, juniors, and seniors from The Atonement Catholic Academy.
If you would like specific prayer offered for departed family and friends, please email Mr. Oliveros, Director of Music, at [email protected]. Their name will be included in the program so that we may pray specially for them.
Festival of Lessons and Carols - Parish Choirs
Sunday, December 19th, 7pm
Lessons and Carols is a service of celebration traditionally celebrated around Christmas. Originally of Anglican origin, the service alternates scripture readings and carols by the choir. Together they tell the story of the coming of Christ from Genesis through to the Nativity. This is an annual service put on by our combined Parish Choirs heralding the coming of the King.
Passion Week Meditations - Adult Choir
Monday of Holy Week, April 11, 7pm
The most impactful events of salvation history are found in Holy Week. All the chapters of Christ’s earthly life come to a final point in His Passion, Death, and Resurrection. Our parish Adult Choir will perform various pieces expressing the gravity and magnificence of the price paid for our salvation.
Featured in this concert will be John Tavener’s Lamentation of the Mother of God, the song of a pained mother watching her once infant child now bear the weight of the sins of all of humanity.
“Woe is me, my child.
I wish to take my son down from the wood
and to hold Him in my arms
as once I held Him when He was a little child;
But alas, there is no-one to give Him to me.”
The piece ends with an exhortation,
“Rise O God, and judge the Earth!”
Organ Recital - Kieley Morales, organ
