Virtual OLA Choirs: St. Gregory the Great, Pope
Members of the parish choirs of Our Lady of the Atonement will perform the motet Ubi caritas by 21st-century Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo. Singers recorded their individual part at home, then the parts were combined together to produce OLA’s first ever virtual choir recording.

OLA Choristers Archive Performance: Our Lady of Sorrows
This musical meditation of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater depicts the many stages of suffering of the Blessed Virgin Mary during the passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Choristers of Our Lady of the Atonement, soloists Angela Malek and Crystal Johnson, and members of the instrumental ensemble Sonido Barroco performed this masterwork at OLA on Palm Sunday 2019.

Virtual Organ Performance: Sts. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Archangels
Gary Marks, former OLA Organist-in-Residence, plays movements from Sonate I, Op. 65 by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Jennifer Seighman, OLA Music Director & Organist, plays Präludium in g-moll, WoO 10 by Johannes Brahms.

Virtual Alumni Voice Recital: St. John Paul II, Pope
Our Lady of the Atonement has been blessed to have a number of talented singers in the parish choir who are now pursuing or have already completed degrees in music from prestigious institutions. Countertenor Christian Cruz, soprano Mary Henriquez, soprano Maura Navarette, bassbaritone Alejandro Oliveros, and mezzo-soprano Cameron Weger will sing music by Bach, Cavalli, Handel, Mendelssohn, Mussorgsky, Purcell, and Telemann.

Requiem Mass: Commemoration of All Souls
This Mass will be offered for the faithful departed and feature the plainchant setting of Missa pro defunctis, sung by the Atonement Academy and OLA Parish Men’s Schola.

Sunday, December 13 • 4:00pm
Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
Originating in 1918 at King’s College in Cambridge, England, this beautiful service features the unfolding of the mystery of the Incarnation as told through scripture and sacred song.

Choral Evensong: Pre-Lent
IlluMEN, San Antonio’s only professional male choral ensemble, will be the guest choir and sing works by Rachmaninoff, Willan, and more.

Holy Week Meditation: Sonoro and Sonido Barroco
Dramatic musical works depicting the passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ from the perspective of Christ, his mother Mary, and his disciple Peter will be presented. Music will include Charpentier’s Stabat Mater H.15, Casals’ O vos omnes, Haydn’s Seven Last Words, Lotti’s Crucifixus á 8, and Charpentier’s Le Reniement de St. Pierre.

Choral Evensong: Easter
The Texas Children’s Choir, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Hardaway and Mrs. Bethany Hill, will be the guest choir.
