Greeters & Ushers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering!

As a Greeter or Usher you are often out first contact with parishioners.   Your priority will be to welcome everyone to our parish for Holy Mass, paying special attention to visitors and newcomers.

In addition Greeters asked expect to:

• Ensure that each person has access to a Missal, Order of the Mass handout and/or song sheet as appropriate.
• Be sure you are ready to explain the origin and traditions of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter  as practiced here.
• Ensure you are able to assist people signing up for parish membership, exploring attendance at the Academy, requesting help from the St. Vincent de Paul Society, requesting pastoral guidance, joining this Guild, etc.
• Are prepared to direct people to cry rooms, day care, restrooms, etc.
• Be sure to distribute bulletins after Mass is over
• Be trained in Security procedures for the parish.

In addition Ushers are asked to:

• Welcome everyone to our parish for Holy Mass, paying special attention to visitors and newcomers.
• Encourage people to sit up front and to fill in pews.
• Set up and take down extra chairs in the Narthex as needed for well-attended Masses.
• Open and close the doors to the Nave as appropriate during the Mass.
• Take up the collection at each Vigil and Sunday Mass.
• Count and report the number of Mass attendees.
• Explain the origin and traditions of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter  as practiced here.
• Assist people signing up for parish membership, exploring attendance at the Academy, requesting help from the St. Vincent de Paul Society, requesting pastoral guidance, joining this Guild, etc.
• Be prepared to direct people to cry rooms, day care, restrooms, etc.
• Be trained in Security procedures for the parish.
• Make a sweep of the nave and narthex between Masses to ensure the Church is clean, organized, and ready for the next Mass
